5th Annual HPS All Sports Banquet

January 30, 2018

Save the date! The 5th Annual HPS All Sports Banquet will be held Thursday, May 17th from 5-7pm. The time is currently tentative as we work out details.

The banquet is a formal event created to honor our HPS athletes who participated in Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, and Track & Field.

We are looking for volunteers to help with set up, clean up, and a parent committee who may be able to help organize food and drinks. Please send an email to jared.biniecki@eagleschools.net if you are interested in helping.

Girls Basketball heads into the home stretch

January 30, 2018

Only 2 games left before we host the Championship Tournament. The 8th grade team has worked themselves back into 3rd place in the overall standings with the annual assembly game Thursday at ECCA and a showdown with 1st place Summit.

7th grade has followed in the 8th grade foot steps and worked themselves into 4th place. Both teams are 4-2 and look to make a late season run into the championship! Go Falcons!

Back to work!

January 10, 2018

The Girls Basketball Team is back to work looking to improve on their 0-2 start. They travel to Leadville Thursday before hosting their first home game next Wednesday versus VMS. They are looking to make a mid season run back in contention.

Parents, please note we have added two games versus Steamboat and Summit on January 20th. All grade levels will attend.

Girl Power!

December 09, 2017

Girls Basketball is upon us as we completed our first week of practice. We currently have 40 girls playing basketball. That is 7 more than the boys. We have 13 8th graders!! We have never had more than seven 7 8th graders in one season in school history. The coaching staff is looking forward to a great season.

Our schedule is updated and posted. 6th grade will get 6 games plus a tournament. This is 6 more games than they have ever had in the past! Please keep in mind that everything is geared around the 7th and 8th graders. Luckily we are able to accommodate the 6th grade with a few games.

It's hard to explain how excited we are about the participation numbers! Thank you parents for letting your kids play basketball.

10 seconds!

December 04, 2017

The 2017 Boys Basketball season ended with a bang! 7th graders had a great season and came up 10 seconds short of a perfect season. Only one other team in school history has finished the season with 1 loss. The boys finished with 13-1 on the season. It was an exciting finish as we took the lead with 30 seconds left after trailing the entire second half.

The 8th grade boys ran into Lake County in the semi-finals who eventually went on to win. It was a good season for HPS.

Thank you to all the volunteers and those who donated food! A special thanks to Michael Smith, Sara Ast, and Jen Laackman for putting in some serious man hours.

Our end of the season party is scheduled for Monday, December 11 at 5:30pm in the cafeteria. We will have a pot luck...6th grade bring a main dish, 7th grade a side dish, and 8th grade a dessert.

Go Falcons!

Off to a good start

November 05, 2017

Boys Basketball is off to a good start. Both 7th and 8th grade are off to a 3-0 start. Lake County visited HPS and was definitely our toughest game to date. We still have 5 league games left. The 8th grade faces a tough St. Clare team on Tuesday while 7th grade will be prepared by a well coached St. Clare team as well.

6th grade spent the weekend with the coaching staff at the St. Clare Tournament where the boys were able to get some valuable playing time and experience while playing 4 games Saturday.

Our program is continuing to get better and we are excited to keep putting in work towards what we hope will be a good tournament run.

Boys Basketball starts Tuesday, October 10th

October 09, 2017

Boys Basketball starts Tuesday October 10th. Practice is from 4-6 every day after school.

Volleyball comes up short

October 09, 2017

Although the 8th grader team didn't make the tournament, our 7th grade team finished the regular season in 2nd place with their only loss coming to EVMS the first match of the season. Unfortunately 7th grade loss to Summit in the semi-final of the PEAKS League Championship Tournament. Many members of the team were not in attendance for the season finale which is unfortunate for all the hard work put in over the season. Next school sport for girls will be basketball which starts in early December.

First Football Championship

October 09, 2017

Congratulations to the 7th grade football team on their win over Summit on Friday in the PEAKS League Championship. The team didn't have their full squad at practice all week. They last played football a week before the game. Twenty 6th graders make up the football team with seven 7th graders. The league allowed us to reschedule so we could play and the kids showed up with a great effort against a good Summit team. Although HPS has been close before this is the first football championship in the school's 7 year history.

Last week of home games...

September 22, 2017

Football is gearing up for the last week of games. We play Eagle on Tuesday and Gypsum on Saturday. 7th Grade is now 4-0 and looks on course to play in the Championship Game. 8th Grade is holding on to a chance to play in the Rose Bowl.

Volleyball heads into a big week of games with Summit and ECCA. Both strong teams. 7th grade is currently tied with Summit and ECCA in 2nd place. 8th grade is still playing for a chance to play in the end of the season tournament. Our Assembly Game is Wednesday at 2pm vs. ECCA. It is one of the most fun events of the season.

Go Falcons!

Volleyball Tournament

September 06, 2017

7th Grade will play at 8am. 8th Grade will play at 9am. Both teams are in a double elimination tournament and will play a minimum of 2 games. Coach Priebel will inform the players at practice with more details.

First games of the season

September 04, 2017

Both Volleyball and Football saw its first action.

Both had tough match-ups as Volleyball traveled to the defending champs Eagle Valley. The 6th graders lost 25-24 twice. 7th grade pushed the Pirates to 3 games but came up short. 8th grade lost dropping both games against the defending champs.

The football team traveled to the largest school in our league last week. 7th grade beat Summit 24-6 and 8th grade lost 22-0.

Both teams are off this week with Volleyball traveling to the Summit Tournament on Saturday.

Welcome to HPS Athletics

August 20, 2017

Please explore our website. We will be trying to update the news feed with weekly action. Please note the football schedule has been updated. The EVMS games has been moved to Tuesday 9/26. We are also aware of the 6th grade trip and the impact it may have on the football bowl game schedule. The league will be reviewing this and we will see what kind of solution is possible. Please stay posted.

Enjoy the solar eclipse and Go Falcons!
